January 1, 2007, Lausanne

Professor Jan-Anders E. Månson is the new AISTS President since September 1, 2006.

Prof. Månson has replaced former Rector of the University of Lausanne Prof. Jean-Marc Rapp.
Professor Månson is in charge of the innovation strategy initiatives at the EPFL, as well as projects on sports performance, such as: Alinghi (America’s Cup winner in 2003), Solar Impulse (solar powered flight) and the Sport & Rehabilitation Engineering programme. His responsibilities also include the development of the Switzerland-Korea International Science and Technology Exchange and Collaboration (SKISTEC). Professor Månson commissioned the exhibition on “New Materials for Sport Success” at the Olympic Museum, exposed in Lausanne, Athens and Valencia (2007).

Since Prof. Manson has taken over the AISTS Presidency, important milestones have been already achieved: IMD, one of the best Business School in the world, has joined the AISTS Foundation Committee; the relationships with IOC have been strengthened; and the synergies between the EPFL research projects on sports and the AISTS have widened.
