Sustainability Survey of International Sports Federations

The AISTS is currently carrying out a short survey on the topic of Environmental Sustainability in Sport with International Sports Federations. The purpose of the survey is to get an indication from the federations of the importance of environmental sustainability and also to get a snapshot of their current environmental sustainability practices.

Sustainable Design in Sport Forum

The AISTS, in partnership with the ISEA (International Sports Engineering Association), the City of Lausanne, and the EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), organised its first annual Sustainable Design in Sport Forum on June 10, 2008.

Environmental impact and sustainability issues in general must be given high priority today and sustainable solutions represent the core elements of good governance and good business.

In this regard, the Forum aims to:
  • present and promote environmental sustainability best practices, solutions and strategies that are of direct relevance to the sports industry,
  • engage all participants coming from sports industry, research, and relevant associations and sports governing bodies, in active discussion about the challenges, solutions and benefits of sustainable design and development,
  • encourage an interactive and stimulating atmosphere throughout.

WHEN - Spring 2009

WHERE - On the campus of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). The EPFL is one of Europe's most innovative and productive technology institutes as well as the official scientific partner of Alinghi, winner of the 31st and 32nd America's Cup.
